Education of St. Tammany Children
--> Develop, test and incorporate curricula that motivate ALL students to reach their full potentials.
--> Full-time, CERTIFIED counselors in every school.
--> Pro-actively address dropout problems through out the system.
--> Allocate funds to individual schools based on:
AVERAGE ATTENDANCE, GRADE LEVEL, SPECIFIC STUDENT ENROLLMENT NEEDS.
--> Transportation to community experiences for public school special education students parishwide.
Position on St. Tammany's Natural Resources
FAIR LAND USE AND NATURAL RESOURCE PRESERVATION:
--> Planning and Zoning Boards backed by enforced ordinances.
--> Zoning ordinances that positively protect landscape and scenic overlay.
--> Comprehensive, parishwide LAND USE PLAN LINKED WITH DISTRICT-BY-DISTICT ZONING ORDINANCES.
--> PARISHWIDE BUILDING, PLUMBING, AND ELECTRICAL CODES.
--> Solid Waste Management Utilities using volume reduction technology.
--> Parishwide plan and execution of an effective drainage system.
--> Care and preservation of St. Tammany wetlands.
Beliefs on Parish Government Finance
The League believes that:
Public Records
Highways and Bridges
Waste Disposal Plants, Sewage Works
Proper Water Treatment
Good Hospitals with Adequate Beds
Facilities for Protection
SHOULD BE PROVIDED BY THE PARISH.
Concerns on Needs for Expansion of Parish Services
Considering the growth of St. Tammany Parish, the governing authority should expand areas of service including:
Animal Control
Ambulance Service
DWI Programs
Victims of Family Violence
Services for the Poor and Needy
Senior Citizens
Effective Parish Planning
